ATTENTION: Your Driftwood, in many cases will need to be "resaturated"
Aquarium Driftwood -  In some cases, our driftwood, will need to be 're-saturated'.  The wholesalers we purchase from, saturate the driftwood so that it sinks and remains on the bottom.  However, to reduce shipping costs, they then it dry it out.
So if the driftwood you purchase does not sink immediately, you will have to 're-saturate' it.  Which simple put means to waterlog it so that it sinks to the bottom and stays there.  The average time it takes for most driftwoods to sink is anywhere between 2 days (for boiled, highly porous woods) to 2 weeks. It might take up to 4 weeks or even 2-months for less porous woods to sink.

So what are some ways to saturate driftwood?  Well, you could attach it to a piece of slate with a screw(s) using stainless steel screws until you no longer need the slate to keep it from floating.  The size of the slate will most likely be dictated by the buoyancy of the driftwood, plus the slate can get covered with the substrate.  Please note that only stainless steel screws are absolutely aquarium safe, other metals including iron will leach in the water column and could hurt your tank inhabitants.

A preferred way recommended by some is to boil it until it is saturated.  The boiling process also sterilizes wood.
We however, DO NOT recommend this choice for resaturating the wood.  We recommended in all cases, if possible (do not boil plastics and the sort), to boil anything that may be new that may be suspect prior to putting in your tanks.  This includes all driftwood.
