Marsilea Quadrifolia  (Water Clover)

Lighting Level: Low – Med, Position: Ground cover, Marsilea sp. are easy to grow
Aquarium plants.  These plants tolerate low light levels and a wide range of water conditions. Grows much like glossostigma only dark green and slower. Creates a beautiful spread. This one is a real winner.   This unusual low light plant tolerates lower light levels and seems to do well even without the addition of a Co2 system to your tank.  Marsilea quadrifolia will form a carpet if left to itself.  Great for growing in zones with lower light than glossostigma would tolerate. Please keep in mind; the plant will be shorter the more light it gets. It is a fascinating plant, usually delivered with leaves like a four-leaf clover. After a transitional period it develops different types of leaves, possibly a low form with single leaves like a large Glossostigma, or alternatively develop two, three or four-lobed leaves varying in height, depending on the growth conditions. Whichever form the plant adopts, it forms runners and spreads rapidly round the aquarium.
